A turnkey solution on Senja, Norway

Located in the scenic heart of Senja—Norway’s second-largest island—the Storelva Water Treatment Plant addresses the region’s long-standing need for high-quality drinking water and water suitable for food production. The source water, drawn from a nearby lake, contains elevated levels of natural organic matter (NOM), necessitating a robust and advanced treatment process.

Inrigo was entrusted with delivering a complete turnkey solution, encompassing all phases of the project: design, engineering, fabrication, assembly, electrical automation, and operational monitoring.
At the core of the facility is a nanofiltration system, utilizing spiral-wound membranes to effectively remove organic substances, contaminants, and microorganisms. To ensure optimal membrane performance and longevity, the plant includes a comprehensive pretreatment line with pressurized sand filtration and automatic micro screening. An additional layer of safety is provided by UV disinfection, securing a hygienic barrier against pathogens.

Engineered with full redundancy, the plant is capable of uninterrupted water production even in the event of equipment failure—ensuring high reliability and operational stability.

Since its commissioning in May 2022, the Storelva plant has delivered up to 3,120 cubic meters of clean drinking water per day, providing a reliable water supply for the local community and supporting the island’s vital fishing and food processing industries.
